Hi, i am looking to purchase a new gpu, i was thinking of the gigabyte gtx460 1gb version which is on special offer at about £145.I currently have a radeon 1600 which is quite an old card, the question is i do not play games (apart from the one that will come free with the card),so is this card too powerful for my needs?,which are blu-ray dvd playback and i also do a lot of video encoding with sony vegas.
My system specs are:
Intel I7 920 cpu
Gigabyte x58a ud3r motherboard
6gb corsair ram
Dell sp2309w monitor

so i am looking for a quite powerful card to match the above spec
If the gtx 460 is not suitable what would other members advice?
Thank you
Ian

Thank you RavenXXX2 for the reply, the version of sony vegas i use is only the movie studio 9 edition, but i am sure your reasoning regarding gpu acceleration still applies.
Are there any nvidia cards that meet my needs,as i have always used ati and was wondering if anything nvidia would be better.
Thanks again
Ian
