Please help me choose a monitor for eyefinity setup

I am struggling to settle on a monitor choice for an eyefinity setup.

I have a racing cockpit with triple screen mount - an Obutto

I will be using the screens for sim racing - iRacing mainly and more "fun" stuff too like Shift 2 & Dirt 3. Plus for flight sims - Rise of Flight, IL2 - Cliffs of Dover.

As well as normal PC use - web - home photos etc.

So a responsive screen with low input lag is probably the most important feature followed by image quality / colours.

I am really tempted by the LG W2363D for 120hz at a great price but the monitor bezel - bottom edge looks unsuitable for triple screens - unless any owners can tell me otherwise.

The Acer GD245HQ looks like a reasonable option after it's recent price drop - Looks more like it will be useable in an eyefinity setup on a triple screen mount and again has 120hz for smoother motion.

I see the Dell U2311H recommended here a lot - nice thin bezels and an IPS screen which obviously has better viewing angles - lowish input lag (around 10ms when measured at tftcentral) - not as responsive as TN panels but will it really matter ?

Finally I have been looking at a cheaper route - the Benq G2420HDBL seems to receive good user reviews and I have found it for around £145 per screen. It looks like it has thin bezels and suitable for eyefinity - a little larger screen than the Dell too. Not found any professional reviews though regarding input lag / responsiveness etc.

I am moving from a NEC 24WMGX3 which is a VA panel but when set to through mode has low input lag - 8ms. I did notice that it was not as responsive as my old 24" OcUK value monitor - the DGM VA panel one - gives the NEC a run for it's money !

For reference I am happy enough with the responsiveness of the NEC as long as input lag us kept in check too.

I have the budget of up to £750 but don't want to spen that if £450 would do fine ie the Benq screens.

So please push me in the right direction.

Any ideas chaps ?

I realise I'm choosing between 120 hz or not or IPS panel or not etc.

That is why I could do with some guidance as to which monitors would be suitable for that type of gaming in an eyefinity setup.

Some general views about those monitors and how they would be suitable for triple screen setups or not would be great.

Thanks for that - as I feared the LG is not ideally suited - the bulge outwards at the bottom would make it difficult to overlap the monitors and the bulge at the side (the white disc) will also make it tricky when side by side. Shame it would be a winner at the current price for a 120hz screen.

I have also read some difficulties in multi-monitor 120hz setups too regarding obtaining and keeping a 120hz output across 3 screens.

Maybe a little ambitious thinking 3x120hz screens at this time - plus it will be really pushing my system to output over 60FPS across 3 screens in most games - although iRacing should be okay.

I haven't set the Obutto up yet but Yes it will be my desk too - has a keyboard / mouse tray that rotates across your lap for FPS shooters and keyboard use.

Any other recommendations for a nice monitor for triple screen setup - thin bezels, low input lag and decent responsiveness ?

Thanks that's interesting - that allows side by side positioning more easily - for racing games though I would want to angle the outside screens in at least 30 degrees - Is that still possilbe with the rounded bottom bezel - file it down ?

I would also ideally like to overlap the screens a little too in order to reduce the perceived bezel width - Is it possible to remove the bottom part of the bezel - where the lighting thing is ?

Back at the drawing board - just thinking if the new 27" Asus screens would be too big in triple screen - will try to find some reviews. The Asus 24" model looks like a potential candidate too - will have to do some research .....

If not think I'm tending towards the Dell U2311H unless anyone gives a strong vote for the Benq G2420HDBL - looks nice and should be suited to triple screen and usefully around £70 per screen cheaper than Dell.

You can most likely pop the front panel of the LG but I will not try

With some simple and smooth filing and sanding to curve out the bottom corners you could get a nice flush finish. depends on what you are willing to do.
Want me to get some more pictures up tomorrow night? I'll try take some better ones for you

If you don't mind as I haven't ruled out the LG - particularly as it's even cheaper this week. If I can get around the bezel issue it seems to be a winner for the money - 120hz screen for standard TN 60hz price.

Not sure about that one whilst the side bezels are thin it looks a little clumsy at the bottom edge - may not matter when they are lined up side by side but doesn't look like it will be as neat as the Dell, Benq or the Asus I linked.

Unfortunately, this monitor doesn't use RTC/overdrive like the Dell U2311H IPS, so it will show much more ghosting in fast-paced games than the Dell.

This review shows how another non-RTC E-IPS monitor (the ViewSonic VP2365wb) compares to the U2311H in terms of response time/ghosting.

Yep - keep coming back to the Dell - would prefer a slightly bigger screen for when I'm only using the one screen - console use or non-eyefinity stuff. As long as it's responsive enough the input lag seem low enough and the better viewing angles will help with setting up on a triple screen stand.

Only problem is they either seem to be out of stock or going up in price.
