I've been thinking about the FHD vs UHD debate - all the FHD TV's I see are really old ones and the prices are still high. I don't seem to be able to find a TV where "sacrificing 4k will give a better TV for the same price".

If you have a suggestion for a FHD-only TV that would beat a budget-UHD - please let me know the model!

My requirements:
- I am going to host movie/sports parties with friends
- Descent viewing angles (50 degrees)
- Good motion
- 48/49/50" (not bigger, not smaller)
- Don't care about sound, as I have a sound system
- I am not fanatic about still picture quality - I want a TV that's good for movies/sports, not for showing still pictures!
- Budget: Under 800 pounds

Thank you!

But then I might as well just get an excellent 4k one for 1100?
Like the Samsung SAMSUNG SUHD UE48JS8500
What FHD model are you talking about?

What about TV's in my budget (<800)?

I personally wouldn't spend much more than £500 on an LCD TV.

4k is pretty pointless on anything 55 inch or smaller unless you sit pretty close to it. That and the fact there is little in the way of 4k media as of yet.

If I was buying an LCD TV, I'd go for one of the mid range Panasonic's for about £500. The Mrs father just bought a 50 inch one for about £500 and its pretty good.
