Hey all,

First custom Custom water-cooling loop, Please assume I have ZERO knowledge or know-how, I just dived straight into the deep end. I want Soft tubing and red coolant - Ideally, something I don't have to maintain and doesn't so leak-prone - I still need fittings, etc if there's anything I've forgotten please let me know, Oh yeah I need a Cpu water block - ideally best bang for Buck for 3900X

6 x EK Vardar EVO 120mm 2200RPM
2 x EK Coolstream PE 360 Radiator
1 x EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 RGB PWM

It's all to go in Lian Li D888WX 8pack case

Thank you,

I don't pretend to be knowledgeable in this area; I'm also on a journey into custom watercooling for the first time in a decade.

I found that the EVO Supremacy blocks can be very good value second hand, and I believe (although have not yet tested) they can be adapted to AM4 with a screw and mounting kit for £12 or so. I'm going to cheap out and try using generic screw and the springs from the X99 mount and see if I can adapt it for less than £5.

For tubing I'm going Mayhems because it's cheap and because it seems to have a good reputation for not leaking rubbish into the water.

For fittings I have some already which are compression. I really like them; last time I went barbs because they are a LOT cheaper; this time I might go all compression as I already have most of the fittings required (they came with the radiators, pump and res).

Be very careful on mixing metals; basically stay away from aluminium and don't mix nickle and silver.

As was said above, I picked up a supremacy evo for ~£20 on eBay barely used for my current build.

Fittings wise, I picked up some of the Corsair ones b grade and they are nice but but I prefer the cheaper (at rep) Matt black ek compression fittings in the end so will be buying more of those for my rebuild in my new 011d (hence wanting the new rads, currently have a 280gts in the front of my meshify c).

If it’s soft tubing your looking for I think for lower risk of any issues in the loop black tubing like ZMT is advised as light helps “life” grow in your loop, plus it looks awesome.

Reconsider your choice of coolant; coolant with pigment can break down and clog your system requiring more frequent maintenance.

A clear liquid with biocide and an inhibitor may last longer between flushes.

Red coolant is fine, but be prepared to flush every year or so.
