Hi, i purchased a gpu from overclockers uk about 8 months ago (with a 2 year warranty) and i believe its developed a fault. I'm only 99% sure it is the gpu causing the problem though so i'm concerned about an rma. Hopefully if i describe the problem you might be able to advise.

After switching my pc on yesterday morning, anything slightly graphic intensive, from watching videos to playing games, causes stuttering/freezing every few seconds. I tried the different connections on the back of the card, dvi, hdmi and display port, all have the problem except dvi (display port is what i was using). I also tried using different monitors and the problem was the same, dvi was the only which worked without problem. I tried installing fresh video drivers which did nothing, however with no drivers installed, the lagging stopped.

I have now also installed a fresh copy of windows on a separate hdd, and booted from that. Same problem. With no drivers installed, everything smooth, as soon as i install the ati display drivers, the lagging starts again.

Any help or advice appreciated.

Sounds like a GPU issue to me... probably not the issue but have you tried a different PCIe slot??

Yeah i tried a few. Its just very strange that the dvi port works fine. I also tried attaching 2 monitors at the same time. One with dvi and one with display port. Doing so caused both to lagg, but if i unplugged the display port screen, the dvi one is fine again. Its all very strange.

Ive packaged it up for rma now, i just hope they can replicate the problem when they test it.

YES, if it's a driver issue it would tell you and it wouldn't be as bad as that.

if the PCI slot was knackered, like my old ASrock, it would black screen or black screen as soon as you moved the pc or touched the card....they're very sensative
