I keep looking on the bay for a socket 478 processor.

I've missed out on a 3.4 EE which went for £70.
I've bought a 3.2C northwood (£47) but its gone missing in the post.

What should I be looking for, and what should I be paying.

With that motherboard either a Northwood or Prescott cpu would be fine, but the N/Wood will run cooler, as already stated look for a 800 (with Hyperthreading Technology) version (try and find one > 3.0GHz), I would think it will be hard to find another EE CPU, as these are quite rare.

I used the P4P800 E Deluxe with a 3.4GHz N/wood, and a 3.2GHz Prescott. :)

Yup, look for 2.4C, 2.6C 2.8C P4s, they are cheap and all overclock really well.

No point spending more than £30ish.

Did you get much clocking out of the 3.2 Prescott?
