So . . .. I decide it's time to get real with my graphics card . . .the 7600GT just doesnt cut it. I order a 4850 XXX . . .great!!! I open up the comp and realise that 1) it doesnt fit inside the case, another component gets in the way and 2) My unit doesnt have the right power cables to fit the 4850

:(

So basically I ned to know, do I basically need to get a new unit??? Is there a way round this? Maybe it's time to upgrade the whole system??

it's a Dell Dimension E520
INtel Core 2 6300 @1.86
2GB RAM

It's a big black box that has a fan and a silver stack type thing in it . .sorry I dont know what its called. Fairly certain it can't be moved. I don't think I have the expertise to get a new case / PSU and put it all together. I guess it's all 2 years + old so might as well jst get a new system. It's annoying cos I only think its the graph card holding me back really. Might be time to start a thread for advice on a new system

:(

If you purchased your GPU online you can send it back and get a refund under the distant selling act - within 7 days.

What would your budget be, have a look on the Ocuk web page as they do systems which can be built for you.

I reckon I could spend £500 . . .I want a considerable upgrade on the 7600GT and I anticipate similar problems with other GPU's? My PSU seems to have only a 305W output as well. If so might be better to keep the card and invest in a new (cardless) system. Being nooby this again leaves me with the question . . .which one?!

:p

thx btw :)
