Hi All

So i have a 3D printer on permanent loan from a friend. I have successfully printed a few things, and unseccessfully too, but i'm generally a proper noob at this.

I want to print some of these: (the 2 drive version)

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3663082

but i want to move the mounting tabs from the sides, to the ends. two tabs on one end, and one tab on the other, so the one tab sits in between the two tabs, to help save space, like this:

I'm losing my mind trying to edit this in various software, because i have no idea what i'm doing... It seems like an easy job for someone that does. if i could just add the extra mounts on the ends, i could just cut the ones off the sides once its printed.

am i right in that this isnt really the right sort of file for modifying the design?

Thanks

How's this? Vertical_HDD_Mount_2_Mod.stl

I'm off work ill so figured I could give it a go! Used Fusion 360, basically used the split body tool and used the face of the cage as the place to split. Added some centre marker points to use the alignment tool to locate them. Then filled in the triangle hols one the one side, and trimmed where there was an overlap on the other side.

Legend!! Thanks

I tried fusion 360, i did try the split body tool, as it seemed like the obvious option, but i couldnt get it to work. i got frustrated fast!

Thanks again for this. i'll have a go at printing it next week.

I forgot to mention that I also converted the mesh to a body which seems to make life a lot easier when modifying and STL.

You're welcome though :D
