Hello all,
I went and got some Logitech X-230 2.1 speakers today. They sound great and I sat there nice and happy while playing some games.
Later on I decided to see how my headphones sounded on them. All good as well.
Until I turned the volume knob to increase the volume level.
Nothing happened. Turned the knob to almost max - no change in headphone volume.
I really dont mean to sound like a nit-picking billy goat but this small feature really irritated me! I checked the instruction leaflet and sure enough:
The speakers are muted when headphones are plugged in. Volume level is now controlled by your soundcard.
Which means when Im in the middle of Star Wars Republic Commando I gotta double-click my system-tray volume icon, bump up the volume and go back to the game.
Whereas in my old speakers I could just turn the knob - in other words *those* speakers remain fully-powered even with headphones plugged in and control their volume.
The X-230s basically die when you plug in phones
So...could you guys please help me with selecting a 2.1 system that *can* control headphone-volume? The X-230s will be returned tomorrow, its too bad really because without phones they sound brilliant.
Why did they leave that *little* detail out!
Thanks much
