please help me fix p.c

Hey guys.

P.c turned off fine last night. I turn it on this morning and it says "no signal" or something. So i geuss either the monitor is broke or the graphics card is buggered. Both are only a year old. I got a samsung 24 inch and an ati 4870.

ANy ideas? methods to fix?

Check your cables are all attached properly and that you haven't selected the wrong input on your monitor, if they are turn the pc off at the wall, press the on button a few times, turn it back on at the wall and try again.

+ 1 | Yeh make sure the cable has not got lose, and the monitor is on correct input.

all the cables are fine. I geuss i must have pressed a button by mistake on the monitor which has changed input. I will have another look when i get home. ANy other ideas just incase?

Does the PC sound like it's booting? Do you hear hard drive activity?

does the PC power on, does the drive light flash like its going into windows?

im pretty sure its a monitor/ graphic card related problem. The P.C did appear to book ok

the you need to test the screen on a laptop or friends computer..

make sure you use the same data cable

Dead GFX or failing PSU.

My money's on the PSU. In my experience this type of fault is 90% of the time the PSU.

I bet his wife removed the plug while hoovering but left monitor plug in.
Just a guess, of course. I'd never be so confused by such a thing, no, no no, never.....not me............
