Please help me get around this problem

Trying to Run Hostile Waters on my comp and its complaining about
Direct Draw Emumeration failed

Which I seem to believe meaning it requires an older version of Direct X to be installed "due to it being a older game"

I really dont wanna screw up my nicely formatted pc so soon but I would like to get around this problem.

Direct Draw is 2d afaik. You might want to try doing to dxdiag and running the ddraw test to make sure your drivers are installed properly.

Also you might want to try running in win2000 compatibility mode

Win 2000 compatatbility is the key. You sir get my thanks! I only ever tried the Me compatability mode.
