Hello.
I will try to keep it short.
I have build my last pc in 2020 or something. My tower has 5600x and 3070 FE. It does me well for what i need. I play Games and watch movies and general browse internet. I dont do productivity, i dont even know what that means. But when i watch YouTube i feel productive.

I played Enshroud game over xmas holidays and have to admit my frames start droping to 60-30 Vram on 3070 getting to low for newer games. 3440x1440 monitor doesn't help either. so here lies the problem. Upgrade.

Im on AM4 socket and have limited choice. Should i go 5700x3d and 7900xt or xtx and carry on for next 5 years. Or should i go and build new tower. with 2000-2500 budget. im talking 9800x3d and top AMD card that will be anonced soon.

What would any of you do in my case.

A 5600X is still a decent processor. What you need to do is find out where your system is falling short. The easy way to determine that is to use Intel's PresentMon.

You could also use MSI's Afterburner.

Do be careful and only download Afterburner from MSI's site because there are dodgy versions around.

What you then need to do is monitor average FPS, 1% lows, VRAM, GPU, and CPU usage.

Your PC vastly exceeds the stated requirements for Enshrouded - client or server - apart from RAM, so you should also look for some background process interfering.

I have aida 64 and exta monitor. so i know all my component's usage. my GPU is maxed out 100% and so is my Vram 100%. CPU around 25-35%

That game is highly GPU intensive and 8GB of vram won t cut it at you resolution at times., hold fire for a new GPU then sell you 3070, 5000seies or 9000amd should be your aim.

Im not to fussed about game itself, its more like a wake up call on 8gb Vram. And yes, im waiting for New amd cards reviews to make decision.

Buy a 640x480 monitor ;-)

Agree with the comments above. I would look at swapping out the GPU first. Certainly that's what I am waiting to potentially do. I'm still running a very similar spec machine 5600x, 16GB RAM, Zotac 3070 8GB card.

I got my parts around 2020/2021. But because of the mess that was the 30xx launch, I think my GPU was the last item I managed to get in early 2021.

In the past I have usually upgraded my entire PC every 3 years. So been thinking of doing the same this year, but think i'll try and get my hands on a new GPU first and then probably upgrade to AM5.

I had been looking at some of the better AM4 CPUs, but decided I would be better saving my money to upgrade to AM5.

Im leaning towards same thinking. I got myself used 1080 when i build this pc and later managed to buy 3070FE from nvidia website fighting bots.

I would buy 4080 but don't trust Auction sites and i don't have 1k posts. Not much of a talker. i guess.

I’d be tempted to hang fire for a while. The 5000 series look set to make the Ada cards look very old hat. The 16gb 5070 card should be about this type of money and I think used 4080 will be pretty poor value compared to that.
