Hello everyone

As my username states, I am not a PC expert. I am not completed Amish and can do the basics, however I am not up to speed with regards all PC matters.

I am about to start my own business and need a new PC to run this. My requirements are:

- MS Excel & Word

- Screen with tv option ideally & at least one HDMI port (ideally two) and at least 19 inch.

- Unit

- Windows 7

- Wireless modem (the location where it will be used has a wireless internet router)

Other than that, I just need the quickest and best system within my budget ranging between £300 - 500.

I mainly don't have a clue about which processor is good or how much memory is good value. But to be honest I'd rather the computer ran quicker, than being able to hold loads of memory, as I won't be storing much on it.

As it will only be used for business I am not too concerned with graphics. I certainly won't be gaming on it, although I might watch the odd Dvd or TV programme.

Could anyone recommend anything?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to forums

As you state youre not particuarly PC savvy I imagine youd prefer to buy a pre-built PC rather than build one yourself, as such you should have a look at something like the Primo Ignition with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, then if you get a 22" monitor like this one, you're all good to go, if you want to watch TV through it too, what you can do is buy a TV tuner card which plugs into your PC and watch TV via the PC, hope this helps

Thanks.

A couple of questions, if you don't mind:

Does the system have Windows 7, MS Word / Excel and a wireless modem? I can't see them in the specs. (All more likely I don't understand the jargon)

Does the monitor have any HDMI ports?

The monitor does not have a HDMI port, the one linked below does and can be used as a tv, but costs more.

The PC does not have office, you would need to but this separate along with the wireless card.

Something like this for a wireless card:

You have to add windows, its an option to the top right
You would have to purchase a copy of office separately, or use open office in the mean time
Sorry forgot about the wireless, you will need to add a wirless card such as this, you may be able to contact the shop and ask them to install it for you before shipping, give them a ring
Yes the monitor has 1 HDMI port (strangely it is not listed in the product specifications but is in the description, I have checked Iiyama's site (link) for you and it does indeed have a HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub connectors)

Edit: RJC that monitor I linked does have HDMI, just for some reason OcUK havent listed it in product specs, but have on description in the 22" monitor page, as above I checked Iiyama for the OP, whilst the monitor you linked is great for his purposes, a cheaper monitor + TV card is probably better suited to OPs budget

I was hoping to pay less than that for the monitor, thanks though.

I don't think I will be able to instal the wireless card, so I'd rather have a deal with it included.

This post was replying to RJC.

Could always look at the USB variants or give Ocuk a call they may be able to spec you something :)
