Hi Everyone,

I have been browsing the forum with interest for a couple of weeks as I am just starting to spec out my first Gaming PC which I am looking to purchase in the next month or so, I will need everything from mouse to monitor(s) as I have no spares bits and pieces laying around. I was hoping to keep the cost below £1500.

After some initial reading I have it stuck in my head that I "must" get a GTX 680 graphics card as I haven’t seen a bad word about it, but I guess it should be good at the price and I also quite fancy the BenQ XL2420T as a monitor. Obviously these 2 alone will eat up a lot of my budget.

Other components I have been considering after researching is the Intel i5 for the processor as general consensus suggests this is the best processor for the job, it would also be nice to have a SSD hard drive as well as a secondary SATA drive.

I use a dual monitor setup all the time and have become fairly reliant on it so if I could get another monitor in that price then even better! I would only be using the single monitor for gaming so the secondary monitor doesn’t need to have the same guts as the main screen (I am willing to wait on the secondary monitor and purchase at a later date if needed).

Other than gaming the machine will be used for software development work and photo editing.

I been realistic or expecting too much for my money? I know very little about what components are out there other than my initial findings.

So my mains questions are do I really need the GTX 680 or on a single monitor is there other cards that would offer the same quality? I mainly play FPS games

Is the BenQ monitor worth the money or are there other 120Mhz monitors that are equally as good?

As I am not ordering right now an Ivy Bridge processor may swapped in if prices are similar to the Sandy Bridge processors.

Also is there anything additional such as cables, ribbons needed to connect all parts to the motherboard and case etc that I would need to add to the order.

I have come up with an initial spec based on other recommendations in this forum, although I am not even sure if all the parts are compatible.
Any suggestions would be brilliant, also feel free to rip it apart and start from scratch! All I know is I want an awesome gaming rig!!

Sorry if I rambled on!
