I'm buying P5B-DLX
And 6300 OEM

I'm looking to overclock around 3Ghz, maybe a little more.

I've been reading about RAM (I'm after 2GB), and searching lots and there's so many to choose from I don't know which one to choose!

Geil PC-6400 Low Latency
Crucial Tenth Anniversary PC-5300

The crucial stuff has nice timing and I see has been overclocked well, but will it be slowed than the Geil because it's a slower speed PC-rating?

Please reply if you can, I'm hoping to order this tomorrow!

No that's just the default rating @ stock speed, well if you can OC the Crucial to 800 Mhz or past it will be equal to the Geil running @ stock. (Or faster if you OC past 800Mhz, but not all PC5300 will get to 800Mhz I believe)

I'm personally using Corsair Select Value PC5300 and it's running at 944Mhz atm which is about 144Mhz above PC6400, cracking stuff.

1500 Mhz overclock here on my 6300, stock cooling.

Hi Jihad,

I like your rig it's one that I looked at. I wouldn't be looking to go any faster than yours really.

Is there any noticeable difference between the value select stuff you have, and the more expensive ranges?

If not, I may just go for exactly what you have and get you to help me overclock it when I get it all ;)

I was also interested that you are still on stock cooling, no problems there at all?

I'm not an expert on Memory but I think I'm right in saying;

I'm not too sure on the differences between Value and 'Normal' Ram except obviously different timings/PC Speed and probably different Heatspreaders...etc!

I've got no problems with my rig cooling wise, I get to around 56/57 Celcius maximum playing games like BF2142, and I can easily run this Conroe at about 1.2 Volts which I'll be changing back to later, so the max temp will be about 52/53 for a game then I believe ;)

I was not expecting my Ram to clock so well, I just got it because it was cheap, I regretted ordering it as I read PC5300 could only get to about 2.4 Ghz 1:1 Ratio with a Conroe 6300 (My mobo can't do below 1:1 Mem Divider), but I was very shocked to see my Ram running 1:1 with the CPU at 944 Mhz

Hmm I see you're running the DS3, I really want the Asus P5B-Dlx and I'm not sure if I'd get the same results with that Ram and board

Any other ram suggestions to go well with P5B Dlx and 6300?

I ain't got a clue about that board :D

Go for the Crucial Tenth Anniversary PC-5300 for the ASUS. It'll should overclock further for your e6300. A lot of the Geil craps out at 900Mhz and you'll be looking for as close to 1000Mhz as possible with your e6300.
