My current system has enough ram to play current games but ideally I'd like to double it from 8GB to 16GB for a bit of future-proofing & headroom.
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
CPU: 2500K overclocked to 4.5GHz
GPU: just got myself a GTX 970 to replace my HD6950
Ram: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Am I better off replacing my ram entirely with a pair of 8GB sticks that suit my overclock or do I just find another pair of 4GB sticks of the same ratings (looks like the Genesis Grey ones I have are no longer available)?
Only reason I am unsure is that (I think) I remember from ages ago that for overclocking it was better to use 2 rather than 4 sticks (maybe this was related to older mobo specs?)
Also, would I see a tangible benefit on my system upgrading to faster ram? If so, what should I consider?
Any advice gratefully received
