I have BT Infinity broadband in my house. The router is downstairs in the hallway. I have a desktop computer upstairs that can only connect to the internet via ethernet.

I was wondering if there was any way to connect the computer without having a long ethernet cable running all through my house. This may sound crazy, but i'm sure i've heard before of things you can plug into a plug socket that connect over wifi that you can then connect to the router and computer via ethernet. I know i'm not explaining this well, I have no idea what i'm doing! I think it was sort of like;

Router - Ethernet Cable - Plug Thing - Wireless - Plug Thing - Ethernet Cable - Computer

If anyone can decode this alien-like message and help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

You are indeed not crazy. They aren't wireless though they work by modulating the data signal on to the power lines running around your house.

That will do fine. Thank you for your help. This looks like the perfect solution to my problem.
