i have a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-163-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1866 and i was wondering if i can put 2 monitors on this 1 card? or will i need 2? ifso will any old graphics card do? since i only want to use my second monitor as a browser monitor and my main as a gaming monitor? also will i have to upgrade my 500w power supply if i put in a second card and what mobo do you recommend? just any ****** cheap one with a second card slot thanks

p.s AMD and under £100 would be nice for the mobo

No, the monitors are powered separately from the pc. ;)

But if you have a rubbish power supply you should get a better one anyway. What do you have?

any in mind? sort of on a budget (no set one as of yet) but 650w seems good enough would like one of the power supply's where i can remove the cables from the box itself modular? i think its called?

Do you plan on running two graphics cards? I assume not (you don't need to, to power two monitors).

If not then something like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-034-CS&tool=5

Would be fine. If you can afford a little more then do it.

Modular isn't the best thing to get on a budget because it costs a fairly hefty premium and you'll have to sacrifice on the quality of the PSU. Which is never a good thing.

Woah there folks hold on a sec he doesn't need another power supply!

To paraphrase and clarify the op:

1. He has a HD6850 working fine in his rig with one monitor.
2. He is asking if the HD6850 can run two monitors, the answer is yes it can, it can even run 3 monitors.
3. No you don't need two cards
4. No you don't need a new power supply, yes you would if you needed two cards but you don't need two cards to "game on one monitor and browse on the other"

If it's really bad (and it could be) then causing him a problem could be the PSU'ing blowing and taking all his other gear with it.

That could well be the first problem he faces.
