Please help me work out how to connect my sound bar to monitor

Hi,

I am a bit lost and would appreciate some advice.

I have this monitor (the slower spec one) https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...een-led-backlit-gaming-monitor-mo-059-ao.html

And I have this sound bar / subhttps://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/SC-HTB20.html

It looks like I need to go from the optical out, get some kind of converter and somehow feed into the 3.5mm jack on the back of the monitor?

I use two laptops for the screen, so ideally want to plug into the screen rather than keep changing from the laptop.

Can you one help?

Does the hdmi from the laptops drive sound to the monitor? If so why can't you just use the 3.5mm out from the monitor into the sound bar?

Looking at the specs the monitor has a 3.5mm output, and the 2.1 has a 3.5mm input?

Thank you for the reply.

The connections are via the sub and there isn't a 3.5mm jack. there is digital audio in TV and Optical and two HDMi ports TV and BD/DVB
 
Then yes you'll need an Analogue to Digital converter, plenty online. 3.5mm output of the monitor, convert to optical digital, and into the sound system.

You may need to use a cable that has 3.5mm on one end, and RCA ports on the other. It's not an ideal situation, but it sounds like the most viable for your situation.

Are these two items correct? Do I need any additional cables?

No I don't believe that's is corrwct. Let's just clarify here.

You want the signal FROM the monitor, TO the sound bar, right?

Monitor is a 3.5mm output?
Soundbar is an optical input?

In which case you need something that converts FROM a 3.5mm output, TO a digital input.

What youve linked here is a digital to analogue converter, and I believe you need the opposite.

Yes to all your questions, however on Amazon they only seem to sell Digital to Analogue.

Do you mind sending me a link the the converter and cable I need?
