Hey guys and gals,

I recently bought a new laptop. I haven't used it anywhere except in my house yet (always connected to AC sockets).

Anyway, I left the computer for 10 hours to download a demo game and went to college and when I came back it was turned off, also the light on the power adapter thing was turned off even though it was still connected to AC sockets. I tried to turn on the laptop without the power adapter but it didn't work. I'm really sad now I only had the laptop working for a few days :(

Do you think power adapter is sort of broken or something cause the light on it wasn't on when I came back to my room. Is 10 hours too long for the adapter? Or is it my laptop that is broken (which means I'm really screwed if its the laptop)

Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Hmm, could now be a problem with both the power adapter and the laptop. The ac adapter obviously should have the light on, and the laptop should power if it has some charge in the battery.
Maybe the AC adapter has gone off then the laptop has used all the power in the battery and gone off itself as well?
What make of laptop is it? Certain brands are serviced directly by the manufacturer, others will be via the retailer.
Acer.

Yeah, could well be that the battery is dead. How long have you had the laptop? And where did you get it? Some shops have a 28 day exchange/refund policy for faulty products. After 28 days, a faulty machine would follow whatever service route they have in place for Acers.

About a week. From a website. I will try to contact them on Monday hopefully I will get it fixed.

do you know anyone else with a laptop you could try there power adaptor maybe ?
Well I know a lot of people who have a laptop adaptor, but are they gonna work on my laptop? I mean do all laptop adapters have the same voltage/current/Power? I certainly don't wanna **** up my laptop by connecting it to the wrong voltage or current. ;)

I have a question here anyway, is 10 hours too long to leave a laptop adaptor on? That really sucks if it is true.
