This is an email he sent me.

Just bought a refurbished Slimline Compaq computer on ebay and it has no OS (I've bought XP Professional seperately). It also has no drivers installed. I have a link to a website where I can download the drivers. When I turn the system on, the message reads:

Non-System disk or disk error replace the disk and press any key

what do I do now? I tried putting in the OS disk and pressing a key but nothing happened.

Any ideas?

not much to go on there. Would start by checking all the cables are connected and that the bios is set up correctly. Get the BIOS to boot from the CD and reboot with the OS disk in the drive. When it says to press a key to boot from the CD do so and go through the setup as per normal. Needless to say that you shouldn't be installing the same copy of XP that you use on your own pc but you knew that already right ;)

non system disk just means the computer is unable to find a bootable object, check the floppy drive make sure theres nothing in there. And as alrdy posted go into the BIOS I think its f10 on compaqs and choose to boot from CD
