So i just put a new gtx 560 ti into my computer and everything seemed fine but when i installed the latest version of the nvidia control panel, i clicked on the various menus fine but as soon as i clicked the 3d management settings the thing just crashed... now everytime i go into the nvidia control panel it crashes and i am unable to change any settings.. can anyone help me please!? I have played games ok so i don't think there's anything wrong with the card?

yeah i'm pretty sure i did

Hmm that doesn't sound too convincing :p You checked in add/remove programs? No ATi stuff left in there? Might be an idea to run Driver Sweeper to get rid of any remnants of ATi drivers in the registry. Failing that it's fresh install time I'm afraid :(

i've tried installing/uninstalling the latest/older drivers several times, including from safe mode. there is no longer any ATI software left on my computer. I'm at a complete loss now :/

If your on windows 7 then you don't need to remove the AMD drivers & that's why removing didn't fix the issues because it was not the issue in the first place.

You can have both AMD and NV in the system at the same time.

Ok here's an update, I've installed the one provided in the link and it functions and works without problems. I still can't get the other Nvidia control panel to work however. Though the Nvideia tools one does give you over clocking options and added info. It appears that the Nvidia Tools one is an older control panel as when starting the one which is supposed to work says it's an older one.

The next course of action is to re-install the Nvidia driver for my graphics card to see if that fixes the problem.

interesting, let me know how you get on.

So i downloaded the nvidia tools and can overclock, change resolutions, set up multiple displays etc but whenever i click on manage 3d settings it crashes instantly... is this a massive problem or should i look into sending the card back?

Update, installed the newest beta drivers and of course it crashed but now it tells me that the error relates to the following files:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD96D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF1ED.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF400.tmp.mdmp

Any idea what this means??

You can't send the card back until you've at least tried a fresh Windows install to rule out any software issues. Have you done this yet?
