Okay, so first a bit of background. I'm working on a VR game with the Unreal Engine. I'm at the early stages, just working on the models so far and have imported a few just to see what they look like in-game. A couple of weeks ago I started to have problems - the Unreal Engine started crashing whenever I chose 'Build Lighting Only'.

So at first I thought it was my models causing the problem, but I tried starting a new project with one of the templates and without changing anything I started to Build the project again. Same problem.

My next thought was that it was my GPU driver, I hadn't updated it for a while so decided I would use the GeForce Experience thingummybob to update to the latest driver. It started updating and then it hanged part of the way through. So I ended the task in Task Manager, restarted my machine in Safe Mode and used DDU to remove the driver, restarted my PC and started again. Same thing happened. So then I thought I'd go back to the driver that came with my card just so that I would use a driver that I knew had worked and this installed without a problem.

So I tried the Unreal Engine again and it crashed again. So I thought I'd open Device Manager and have a look at the Properties of the graphics card there. Everything looked fine, said there were no problems so I started to check the other tabs...but whenever I try the Details tab the Properties box locks up and I can't end the task leaving me having to restart my PC to get rid of the box.

So then I thought I'd go to a slight extreme just in case it was my Windows installation causing me these problems. So I did a Reset keeping all of my files, basically reinstalling Windows again lol. But still the same problem.

I'm using Windows 10 Pro x64 and my card is a Palit Geforce 1080.

Any advice will be much appreciated because I'm on the verge of just formatting my C: drive and starting again from scratch which would be a major pain in the bum!
