Please help RAGE Setup on HD 6970

i think it showed exactly the same number before and after i updated drivers. Im gonna uninstall all again but this time delete all the files and folders too.

urgh... reinstalled all drivers, tested, failed. installed latest rage driver, tested, failed. This really sucks :(

There is understandably a delay before drivers make their way onto Windows update, as they will have to go through WHQL certification and what not no doubt, plus just the inevitable delay due to getting their servers updated etc.

I've never installed a graphics driver from Windows update and I've been using it since the 90s, just go direct to the manufacturer and grab whatever the latest they have available (including betas). I think the only drivers I've ever got from there have been Network drivers.

To be honest, i only ever go to manufacturer site too. Just did that method because RAGE wasn't working so i had a go at everything i knew.
 
I think i have solved it at last. I have found a config file on steam forums that seems to to the job :D Only problem is texture load time is slowish. I remember reading somewhere that there is a folder that doesn't get made on installation but i cant remember where or what the name was. Guidance on this much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I can't remember either. I thought the game required AMD users to create an ID folder and / or Rage folder inside the ID folder or something. Check out the Steam forums or have a look here, though god knows what page its on :

I had it all solved last night; playing smooth as anything on driver 11.9. I wake up this morning and it doesn't work, ARGH!

Forcing any vsync, aa through CCC causes problems so leave everything at default. Adjust everything from the ingame settings.

The game was patched back in October making all custom configuration files obsolete. Ditch them.

Thanks im actually playing it at the moment on the 11.9 catalyst and it is just about playable. Can you guarantee the above works? coz i don't want to go through a load of epic fails again :(
