Hi all, im buildingmy dad a pc for home based working. I build and pick my own parts for my gaming pc but not too sure about parts for a daily work pc. Im asking because if it was upto me id completely overkill it. The budget is £4-500. Case wise im going to try as small as possible tofit on his desk.
Yer so really and truly I need it to be a good pc with pleanty of ram. He isnt going to be doing any pic or vid editing, he is a journalist but uses many programmes at once. Also would prefer intel.
For a good home pc I have no idea where to start so hopefully someone can give me some ideas. Cheers all.

sorry mate didnt log back in yesterday. Not the kb&m or monitor but it would need an os, so the budget would be £500 but £400 on parts.

Another idea would be an Intel NUC. I used one for a few months and it felt no different to a regular PC. OCUK don't have much stock, but this kind of thing:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £259.09
(includes shipping: £14.10)

Conventional PC, just add your own choice of case:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £281.97
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Windows 10 as thats what he uses now.

that's not so bad. took me years to get my dad away from xp and on to 7.

I dont think hell go to 10 anytime soon.

Im back with windows 7 the now did have 10 on my last build but went back to 7 when I built this one. will take the free upgrade before it runs out but at the moment im sticking to what im used to.
