Hi there,

I've just moved into a student house, and need to set up an internet connection. We have a landline set up now.

Looked at Sky, who can only provide our postcode with "SkyConnect" (I think that's what it was called), and that seemed expensive, for both connection and monthly.
I have an Orange phone contract, but hear nothing but bad stories about them.

There are 5 of us, who will split the cost, so we'll pay £25/month tops I should think (between us, so £5pmpp).

We've been told that we can get 5Mb at our postcode, though that seems low, as it's 5 mins outside Newcastle city centre.

No download limit would be beneficial, but I can't see us downloading huge files often.

Will need a wireless router with the package too, though accept there may be a one-off cost for this!

Finally, we're looking at a 12 month contract.

Thanks!

Cobra

UKFSN are a reseller of Entanet. I have been using them since March when I left Poopex, and have had no problems. Speeds are good, gaming is flawless.

Their packages have peak and offpeak allowances, but the off peak are very generous so just do the majority of your leeching at night or weekends.

Only a 1 month contract period as well, so easy to jump ship if they go pear shaped.

Don't think they supply a router, but you should be able to get one fairly cheaply from any good (and some bad) PC shops.

I'd recommend PlusNet. BBYW (Broadband Your Way) package. It's cheap, you get a free modem and it's a monthly contract. :-)

Also the support you get it pretty much top quality from what i've received so far.

Is that the same plusnet that everyone thinks is the spawn of satan himself :p , I've been with UKFSN for about2 months now and I haven't had one hitch.

It could well be... but then again, im not a leech so i dont need P2P or anything noobish. For quality of service i can't fault it.

All of these sound like brilliant alternatives guys, thanks.

I'll look into them when I get back from holiday!
