Hi all, my system specs are below and I want to hand my CPU Motherboard Ram and maybe PSU to by son.

I'd like to upgrade those components to make my machine a little faster.

What can you suggest? I'd like to keep the cost down but there is no hard and fast budget set right now.

I don't need to OC no. I just want it to run faster than I have. The rig is used for gaming and photo editing.

Yeah that looks good but what about the PSU, will that be man enough? I'm just thinking of future GFX upgrades, also, what about a cooler for the cpu

The cpu will come with a stock cooler, which will be ok but if you want more silent operation something like this:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £78.95
1 x BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2 CPU Cooler £61.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler £26.99
Total : £179.33 (includes shipping : £9.50).

The top one is a closed loop cooler, which would do you for overclocking and will give you really good temps, btu if you wanted to oc you would need to get the K edition of the cpu, and a 140mm fan mount on your case.
The middle is a high end air cooler, which will also do you well, but maybe not quiet as much as the H80i.
And the bottom is probably the most recommended budget cooler, very good for the price.

Regarding the PSU, unless you are going to be getting something beefier than a 770, or going sli/xfire it should be fine. It is made by a good manufacturer so it will be able to take being under heavy load.

unless you're buying right now the ram will go back upto to £130(today only plus only 2 left).

even if not overcocking now would say go for the k version as it'll give you option in the future

I'm thinking about upgrading the motherboard to the MSI Z87-GD65 gaming. What are your thoughts. I'll keep the PSU I have for now
