Please help - sudden BSOD netio.sys

Hi. My computer has been running great for months with no problems. Recently I got a new monitor and I'm getting random and frequent blue screens entitled 'SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION NETIO.SYS'. I'm not sure if they are related but I'm connecting this via display port to my GTX 980 where I had previously used HDMI with my old monitor. Please advise me on how to proceed.
