Hi guys.
Bellow is my current PC specs.
Was built in 2009 and I use it as a media PC...
I don't play much at the moment, occasional TF2 and it is ok for that. But started to play DayZ and had to turn everything down.

Planning to get new PC next summer.
Wonder if its possible to improve the old one for £100-150 maximum.
Any suggestions?

850W NorthQ Black Magic Flex Modular PSU
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
OCZ Platinum AMD Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel

Many thanks.

I would only recommend an SSD for older systems these days, be it laptop or desktop. My laptop is like Triggers Broom - it's original, save for the updated CPU, memory, hard drive, disk drive, keyboard and network card. That made it quicker (+500mhz) but the biggest boost came from putting an SSD in. Only prob is back then they were expensive for not a lot of space so went with a hybrid/ssd drive and 500gb.

On the lookout for a reasonable priced SSD of 128gb or higher to update it now. Considered the fastest processor available but it's not worth it for 100mhz extra.

As for Desktop I bit the bullet and bought all new guts for it. Yours is still nippy so would suggest a 128Gb drive for Windows and a couple of games.

I am sure you will be able to overclock that CPU to 3.2/3.4Ghz on stock cooler. Also overclock graphics card.

Its a free (costs a little more on power) upgrade.

Also look to unlock the forth core of your CPU. It is a Quad Core with a core disabled due to overstock/instability, but no harm trying.

you're motherboard can support a Phenom II X6 1100T you could always upgrade to that, then get a new GFX card later. other than that an SSD is always good :D

Thanks for remembering about the "you're / your" thing the internet is raging about at the moment, but I will leave you to have a look at what you just typed. You essentially just called him a motherboard and told him with bad grammar that he can support CPUs.

The inner grammar Nazi is restless today...

Hi guys sorry I was busy last night.
i will try to get fps numbers in game tonight (don't know how yet).
I understand that SSD will improve general PC experiences, and make games load/open faster. But I am more interested in making game run better, more fps. Am I wrong?
I will try to overclock processor and graphic card. Just need to find how :D

Thanks

Fraps will give you FPS numbers.
My 2 cents - new CPU, then sell the 4890 and look for a 2nd hand GPU like a 6950 2nd hand.
