Hi all,

My son finally saved all his pennies over a long time to buy his first gaming PC build. We just completed it (MSI B550 Gaming Plus, Ryzen 5600X, 32GB RAM, 1TB SDD, Intel Arc B580, etc), and hurrah, we got into BIOS OK (version is dated Aug 2024). This is only my 2nd build and I'm not overly knowledgeable or competent with computers to be honest.

I had a Windows 11 boot USB that I used with my previous build, this loaded up nicely on his PC, went to install, and then said "Windows Failed to install". Now when I reboot post-BIOS, I just get an error screen with 3 steps, I have no clue how to proceed.

Please can anyone help?

Many thanks in advance!

I would format the USB stick and re download the creation tool from Microsoft and then give it another try.

If its still an issue after this you could try and burn the ISO to USB using Rufus instead.

Does the installer detect the SSD or does it not get that far for you to select a drive to install it on too?

Have you tried a different USB port like a USB 2?

Thanks a lot for the quick reply, much appreciated. What I've now done:

1/ Downloaded the latest BIOS and flashed it to install the newest (Mar 2025) version
2/ Formatted my USB drive
3/ Re-created the boot drive for Windows 11 on the formatted USB drive
4/ Wiped the SSD through BIOS
5/ Changed the order of bootup to go to USB before SSD
6/ Tried to reinstall...

...and it worked! Hurrah!

Thanks so much.
