Hello,

Could you please help me spec a cheap system for me please. As cheap as possible. Will be used mostly for just browsing but also some lighter gaming.

I don't mind overclocking to get some extra performance.

I have an old socket A system now so I need everything except monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.

I would like to focus on a decent graphic card. I'm thinking 9800GT or something like that should be more than enough.

What do you think is the lowest price I can put this together for?

Thanks for any help!

I'd go with an E5200 for the CPU and then a half decent P35 motherboard, the pair should set you back ~ £120 but once OCed will not be a bottleneck in games for a very long time to come. Pick up an Akasa 965 for the CPU cooler, excellent little bit of kit for the money (my E2180 @ 3ghz doesn't even pass 50C under Orthos using it, and it still stays damn near silent).

Add 2GB of DDR2-800 and a branded 400w-500w PSU and you're almost there.

Also, if you can find an 8800GT cheaper than a 9800GT then go with it as its the same card under a different name.

Edit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

That motherboard is ideal, cheap, well built and plenty of OCing headroom. I have the P35-DS3 which is basically the same minus a couple of USB and SATA ports and its a great board.
