I am currently running my Q6600 @ 3.550ghz, ram on a divider @1066mhz (OCZ 2x2gb PC2 8500).
Both Orthos. Prime95 and IBT passed over 30 mins testing, so far without error. FSB 444, multi x8. :cool:

I can also boot into windows @ 3.6ghz, ram @ 800mhz... and again, Orthos, Prime95 and IBT pass the same tests. :D

However, @3.6ghz settings above, If I try to set my ram above 800mhz using dividers, the mobo won't post. :confused:

I have the correct timing in the bios, I know the ram will run @1066mhz as it does so with FSB @444, multi x8???

My only reason for trying to get the ram running higher, is that after running Wprime @3.550ghz / 1066mhz, 32m test took 12.227 sec..

@3.6ghz / 800mhz it takes over 45 sec :(

Any ideas?

I have tried higher volts and as for timings... the default for 1066 is 5,6,6,18, which I have manually set in the bios and works great on an x8 multi.... just does not seam to want to work with the x9 multi?
 
Ok, I dropped the timing down to 6,8,8,22, upped the MCH to 1.44v and now im in windows @3.6ghz / 960mhz.... but Wprime is still taking over 45sec???

It's odd, with the correct timing and an 8x multi, the system will boot with the ram at 800mhz or 1066mhz fine... just wont boot on a 9x multi and FSB @ 400 till i dropped the timmings and raised the MCH... still not yet got 1066 to post though :(

You are running an Abit IP35 Pro, right?

Here are my settings with system in sig...

External Clock - 400
Multiplier - 9x
DRAM Speed - 1:1:25 (DDR2-1000)
PCI-E - 100

CPU - 1.52v (1.42 or so under load)
DDR2 - 2.0v
CPU VTT - 1.23v
MCH - 1.29v
ICH - 1.05v
ICHIO - 1.5v
DDR2 REF - 0%
CPU GTL 0+2 - 67%
CPU GTL 1+3 - 67%

Limit CPUID MaxVal - Disabled
C1E - Auto
Execute Disable Bit - Enabled
Virtualisation - Disabled
EIST - Auto

RAM - By SPD

If you can't get stable then you may need to push the MCH, or remove the 2x 1gb sticks of RAM. With all banks occupied you are putting a lot of strain on the Northbridge and memory controller.

Also, if you haven't done so already, you will probably need to do the bolt mod on the heatpipe and get some active cooling on both the NB and PWMs as they will get very toasty when overclocked.
 
Yip, IP35 Pro... Have removed the 2x1gb (they used much higher volts than the 2gb modules so have taken them out)

Ram manually set 6,7,7,20

Have tried the MCH upto 1.48v and timmings @ 6,8,8,22, still not post with ram @ 1000.

Have a fan on the northbridge and over the VRM cooler, temps are fine, 4xcore never gone past 71c, PWM so far not gone over 80C, (short tests on IBT).
 
Try matching my settings as the systems are so similar and see what happens. What is the VID of your chip? Mine is 1.3v, hence needing quite a lot of juice to get 3.6

EDIT - looking at that I think VTT may just be the issue. I actually found that there was a sweet spot with it and running anything above it would cause instability for me. Try lowering this to 1.23v.

EDIT 2 - I would think your RAM will need more than 1.8v to be stable at 1000. Probably need to raise that to 1.9 or 2.0

Been doing some testing, and realised I had the ram @1.8v, which is for 800mhx LOL... needs .21v for 10666... i'm sucha Muppet!

going to try your settings, roughly... mine is a 1.22 VID so should take less volts to OC... will report back after a few more tests...

CPU 1.425v
RAM 2.2v
MCH 1.44v (need to test lower, but default of 1.29 failed to boot windows!)

Now loaded into windows and passed IBT with RAM @ 1000mhz :)

Sadly Wprime is still taking 45.xxx sec... were as running at 438/8/1066 (3.550) Wprime only takes 12.xxx sec ???

Have you tried other tests such as SuperPi? Maybe there is some sort of bug in Wprime?
 
Only other test run so far @ 3.6 is IBt, which passed 5 runs. Max CPU temp wa 73c.. not bad...

I can only assume that WPrime likes higher FSB ? but though even so, thats a heck of a speed difference for the sake of 38mhz on the fsb and 66 on the ram?

Just passed IBT with the MCH @ 1.37v :( tried lower but IBT failed...

edit: PEBKAC.... forgot to set Wprime to use 4 threads.... :(

Well hours later and I seam to have a stable rig, running @ 450/9 = 3.6ghz, ram only at 900mhz, but has made a small difference to some of my bech tests that were done previously at 3.5ghz...
