Hi all

Im looking to buy a new computer next week.

Can anyone see any problems with the components above?

I need the computer for games (FPS mainly) and Maya/rendering. Ideally I just need the fastest computer possible for around £1,300.00 - £1,400.00 or maybe less. Im not sure if Ive selected the best stuff with this in mind?
Maybe a prebuilt system would be faster for the price?

Thanks for your help!

Hehe, sorry about that I cant get the image showing.

I take it the G.Skill 4GB DDR3 PI PC2-12800C7 1600MHz is better than the one Ive got in my list?

I see that you've ninja-edited. Ok, well it looks good apart from the DDR3 RAM which you wont need at the moment, so changing that and the motherboard to DDR2 will save you hundreds £££. I would also add an aftermarket CPU cooler if you plan on overclocking your CPU

So if I were to stick with DDR2 would the "Ultima H²OC Trident" 280 Intel Core 2 Quad Xeon X3350 2.66GHz @ 3.50GHz+ Quad Core WaterCooled DDR2 System be a good idea or could I made a better system myself without the extreme overclocking?

Too many options :(

I'd build yourself if you're competent. Go for DDR2, as said above. It'll save you masses of money for very little performance difference.

640gb Samsung is def the way to go, they're faster than the 500gb due to denser platters.

What monitor will you be using?

Its a Samsung SM-T240. Not the best in the world but got it when it was on offer and hopefully it will be fine for gaming.

Would I benefit from 8GB Ram if I go DDR2 or would 4GB be fine?

Probably not if your just gaming and/or general use without any crazy image or video editing going on, but if you have the money I guess more never hurts (unless it means getting 4 dimms ofcourse)
