Hey

ok im actually on the verge of putting my fist threw my screen! mass effect 2 keeps dropping from 60fps to around 10 sometimes and is a mess, i have spent the entire weekend updating drivers and playing with the config,changing affinity etc but still no luck, im using catalyst 10.7 and its still choppy. Anybody else had this issue? i run every other decent game out today pretty high but this is a mess on lowest!

i7 930
rampage 3
corsair 1600 6gb
asus 5870
24" benq 1080 monitor


not forcing AA and switched off vsync aswell

is the 5870 know for this issue or is it a crap console port? ive seen lesser spec machine dominate this on youtube with maxed settings
 
I can assure you it is 100% not a crap port, Q6600 stock with a 5850 runs with everything up. There must be some other issue it could be the drivers as I haven't played the game with 10.7's however I highly doubt it.

You could try disabling hyperthreading on your i7 unsure if it will help or not worth a try.
 
yeah tried with just using certain cores, no difference. its a steam game so patches are automatic. 10.7 came with a fix for crossfire but im using a single 5870. i have my i7 930 running at 3.2 but even putting it back to stock its the same. every other game bc2, just cause 2, crysis run on high/highest fine. its only this and i really wanna play it!
 
I run the 10.4 drivers as I like to play the early CoD games (the dont seem to like 10.5-10.7). I have no issues playing the game with them myself.
 
I presume you uninstalled the 10.7s before installing the 10.4s? They often don't stick if you have a newer version installed. Other than that, nothing springs to mind.
 
yeah checked both links already and i done a fresh install on drivers. my mate who's running a rig close to my own runs it fine. so confused, it really doesnt make sense at all

done, still getting the same issue. i honestly dont think theres anything else i can do. it doesnt make any sense that its only this that doesnt run properly. cpu is fine ran prime95 and no errors with steady temps and all other games run fine aswell but this game works fine on my mates with a simliar set up
