i just downloaded crysis warhead, the game wont let me play offline

it keeps asking me to go online so it can verify the ownership of the game, how can i get this sorted out, i need to go home soon

is it to do with game spy/game spy comrade..... i have not signed up to it

it woks online, just wont let me go offline

i got it off steam, but i cant verify the activation code from stream, it wont accept the code, i can only play online, offline doesn't work.
in online mode the game doesn't ask you anything, so there's nowhere that i can paste in the key code
