Hi guys, i was just gaming now and my gpu blew up! Its working now but Im at a loss! Anyone know of this? I was gaming on neather, Whole pc shut off, come back on and a big pop and puff of smoke come out the back of the gpu. Smelt really bad too! All seems ok now, i've never overclocked this gpu and its about 6months old. Bought it from ocuk like i do EVERYTHING its a gtx770 titan cooled.

I know what there gonna say come RMA too, there gonna not refund it. I bought the gpu then bought this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-197-XS and followed it to the letter and it was not the right fit. But in doing so had to remove the 'void if removed sticker' i did phone up and play holy war coz its what the instructions said to do yet it was wrong. At the time of doing this the guy on the end of the phone pretty much said tough ****

Nah i took out the screws months back very carefully, and nothing sperated at all. Uponr realiseing the backplate was wrong put it back together and ordered one from coldzero, and it was perfect, only had to take 6 of the edge screws out for that. I RMA'd it this morning and mentioned the problem again with the xspc backplate and yet again got a its your fault answer. To be fair if your stocking somthing then your to be held account for it otherwise dont stock said items or at least test things out before hand. The guy was hopefull id get a new one but im not tbh, i know how big companys work. FYI the only gpu company he said that allows you to take apart the gpu is EVGA :) If i have to fork out another 380quid for a gpu then i will be selling the parts off from my pc as i dont have it and wont be useing overclockers again. Its not the first trouble i have had. I also recived two faulty motherboards in a row too lol. Its not all bad tho 80% of them and there service has been spot on, i guess im just unlucky lol. I'll let you guys know the outcome when i know.

Dear jason lant ,

The product GX-015-IN on RMA259135 has been returned to you. It has been rejected for the following reason.

"Warranty void seal damaged on screw, loose screw on cooler"

So coz ocuk sold me the wrong part with the WRONG INSTRUCTIONS im now down 380quid! Sod this like!!! Will no longer be using OR reccommending ocuk to anyone!

Op, you need to realise if you are removing the cooler for any reason on most gpu's, it will void the warranty. Now I understand your frustration, but ultimately the responsibilty is 100% yours to do your research, ensure you have ordered and received the correct part, and that you are able to dissassemble and then reassemble without damaging any components.

Some manufacturers allow the removal of the cooler, some have special relationships with retailers (Powercolor allow removal if bought via ocuk), but most will void the warranty.

It is a risk we have to take modifying gpu's unfortunately. There is no point coming on here crying and blaming overclockers. You remove screws with "warranty void" stickers on them at your own risk!

Im not crying at all, and i didnt even remove the cooler lol. I followed the instructions and as i was unscrewing the screws of the gpu i realised it wasnt right but by then was too late :|

I don't quite understated what OP was trying to do, were you trying to fit a back plate onto a waterblock or just wanted to fit the back plate because it looked nice?

Those backplate's are generally only compatible with stock cards, if you GTX770 was a aftermarket card then that would explain why the back plate didn't fit even if 'you followed the instructions to the letter'.

I was simply trying to make the pcb look nicer nothing more lol, and on a stock cooled inno3d gpu.

So to conclude, you were given advice that the backplate was compatible with your card, which it will be... however, for it to be compatible the customer service rep would have assumed you had the XSPC Razor GTX Waterblock fitted since that is a prerequisite of installing the backplate.

This, this is exaclty what happened, granted i should have done my homework more yes. But i phoned ocuk for advice and the guy i spoke to said it would be fine to fit it. I did tell him i was just installing the backplate as to keep the dust off and to make it look nicer, surely he should have told me i needed the water block? I know a decent amount about building pcs but am fairly still a novice, and i thought the whole point of phoneing in was to get help and advice from people who know what there talking about -_- Im still proper wound up and since sold the rest of my pc for next to nothing coz i dont have another 300 quid to pull out of nowere. It took me months of saving to get the pc in the first place. Completely done with the lot now

It was still working perfectly when i sent it off for repair so im hoping it will be ok at least till the guy can afford to upgrade. Im done with it all, i know it probs sounds a bit stroppy and that but i've just got a poxy xbox one and cut the gaming right down. Only playing now when i get an extreem urge to do so lol. Probs for the best anyway
