.........a petrol garden strimmer in Bristol.

I have a load of weeds to get rid off in the back garden and my land lady is inspecting on Wednesday :eek: . They are £100 or so to buy and about £30 a day to hire, which is a bit of a rip off. I will happily leave my Wii as colatoral and a case of beer chucked in if anybody is willing to help me out.

Mods, please delete if innappropriate.

Shame I'm 350 miles away, any excuse to get the petrol strimmer out tbh! Anf the beer would've been nice.

I must say, the £100 was a VERY good investment , great amounts of fun and very useful over the long-term, especially with the tri-arc bush-cutting tool.

No need to ask for a lending hand. pop yourself over to B&Q.

Cheapo strimmer that cost less than what you stated and will do the job anyway plus keep the beer.

But petrol is so much more manly...

Very true - petrol strimmers fall under the category of "man-toy" and are excellent for bringing destruction to grass and plants. THey are also VERY loud and anny the neighbours - a second advantage, plus that little wussy 18.99 job will not be ANYWHERE NEAR as good for an overgrown garden - not a chance.

My grandad had a £50 B&D jobby and it struggled on thicker stuff. No need for a petrol for a garden his size though. But I'll buy a house with a big overgrown garden just for the alpha-ness of getting a petrol strimmer.

Hey! I was being serious... a machete would be fine for cutting down a load of weeds. Not to mention bonus points for looking like a psycho as you cut them down.

In that case, skip the strimmer and just use the petrol. :p

However some tips from my previous bonfire incident

* 5 litres IS too much
* 3ft is NOT enough distance
* Dont expect any arm hair left
* Expect the smell of burning for a week
* Have a hose handy!

Yes, I concur. We nearly put a few cobblestones into orbit when we were ethnically cleansing an ant nest with petrol.
