I have a computer here with a faulty keyboard PS2 port. The easy solution to this problem would be to just use a USB keyboard right? However I cannot as I keep getting a prompt to press the F1 key due to no keyboard being detected.

So the PC needs a keyboard plugged into the PS2 port in order to disable the keyboard check on boot up. Anyone know a way around this?

Failing that I am either going to have to get a new motherboard (which I definately do not want to do!) or find some other way around it. I was thinking a PCI card that has PS2 ports. Anyone know if one will allow me to press F1 to bypass the message?

Also anyone know if they are available in the UK? I have not been to this forum for a while now but I remember there where rules around pointing people to competitors sites, so if someone could just let me know if they are available in the UK I would really appreciate it. I have found a few but they are over in the States and cost a bit more than I want to pay when including the postage.

I hope someone can help :)

Try resetting the bios first, you might get lucky and it will clear any warning messages/work, or the motherboard might have keyboard/bootup warnings disabled as default (slim chance but hey)

Thanks for the idea. I just went and gave it a try, but I got the same message when I booted it up again.

Thing is I cannot get ino the bios because I get stuck at the press F1 prompt with no keyboard working. I need a way to get around this.

Good idea, just gave it a try but it did not work.

Just had a thought. Does anyone know if a serial keyboard will work? I have found a serial to ps2 adaptor that I think I will try.
