hi

i have not looked into graphics cards for awhile now and i have just upgraded my cpu to an amd fx-57 and i would like to upgrade my graphics card aswell.
(Although my current 600w PSU dose not have the seperate supplys for cards so i expect i will need to change it?)

currently im running a : NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3 Extreme Gamer Edition (Factory overclocked at 1GHz).

Im looking to spend between £110 - £190 on a new card, i would like to stay with nivida as i dont have too many problems with their drivers un like ATI?

main game that i am playing is BF2 & BF2142 so i would like to be able to run these games on max settings.

any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Firstly AGP or PCI-E? You won't need to change PSU because most new cards come with a 4pin molex to 6pin molex which should be all you need.

If AGP and want to stick with nvidia, then the 7800gs+ is £200ish and would be very good, it's basically a 7900gt in agp form. But ATi has released the x1950pro, which on value/performance is better than the 7800gs+. ATi drivers have greatly improved over the last year, and you don't even have to use them, you can just use Ati Tray Tools which is just the normal drivers greatly simplified.

If PCI-E, then the 7900GTO should fit in your price range, if you look around a bit. It's basically a 7900GTX only clocked a bit lower, it should easily reach GTX speeds. The ATi version is the X1950XT, much cheaper and with similar performance. Same applies here as above with the drivers.

I think ATI are better in your price range at the moment, maybe a second thought about keeping to nVidia..?
