am looking to get a wired modem router which I can use with two pc's; one for online gaming and general browsing and te other for downloading. I have been unlucky with routers in past with a netgear dying in less than a week and a Dynamode doa. I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to networking and would prefer to have a modem router without a firewall (or be able to switch off) and just mange things through XP.
at moment have a Dlink in mind.

Had good experience with them. Currently using a DI-624 which i picked up second hand at a very well known auction site. This is the wireless version (NOT ADSL) and when I bought it, did not need the wireless bit. But after moving back home, its come in very handy. Everyone with a PC in the house and friends who come over with their WiFi equipped laptops can share files/net/games/etc - wireless & wired (router's got 4 ports +1 WAN)
