For gaming a Intel Sandybridge will be so much quicker.

Did you need a Harddrive? motherboard and RAM? is your DVD drive a SATA?

Ah yes, sorry, have a hard drive. Need motherboard and ram. Yes its SATA.

Are the intels a lot better? Would an i3 be fast enough? I could drop the graphics card down a bit to make way for an i5?

Can you get a tiny bit more money?

Yeah I'm sure I can stretch a bit, its only a few pints....
Is there a good graphics card for around £100.00 or is it worth spending the extra £50.00? Will it make a huge difference?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-140-OK

That is £115 and on par with a 5850.

Also will allow stock OC to around 800mhz putting it into the 5870 range.

EDIT: Note above post has posted same card but 'Green Edition' uses less power because it's underclocked. Avoid if you're after performance.

Just ordered! Went with the GeForce GTX 460 in the end to save a few quid. Can always upgrade later on.

Big thankyou for the help.

I take it the items that aren't in stock now get dispatched as soon as they arrive?

Yep, or the order gets delayed until its all in stock, ask in the customer support section for clarification.

Just a quick update….received all the components on Tuesday and sat down last night to put it all together. It was my first time building a PC and it was surprisingly easy, I've replaced GPUs before and installed new hard drives, as long as you read the manuals its really not too bad.

Had enough time for a game of FIFA before calling it a night and WOW the difference from my old PC was insane! Can't wait to rig it up to my speakers so I can listen to the groovy sounds from the top of the hit parade.

Anyway a big thankyou to everyone that helped my spec it up, legends. I'm off to do some cable tidying....

Hopefully it will last a while too, a few years at least. I really need to throw some decent games at it, its been a while from any serious gaming. Last game i hit big time was Oblivion and BF2....might buy BF2 for old times sake.
