Hi everyone!
Before I`ll start my posd I`d like to say hello because I am a new user.

I would like to kindly ask you to judge my own build with Overclockers UK parts whom I have found recently.

Before you do I just would like to say that my computer will be for gaming on one screen (around 21 inches) and maybe from time to time for video and photo editing but really occasionally.

I know what you`re probably gonna say first:

Too much of everything for gaming only BUT - reason why i have chosen those components is that i wanna upgrade and OC my CPU in the future so I will not have to change entire computer after 5 years and I`m after best parts avaliable. So basically I`d like to grab best technology available now so I could keep up later. Extreme custom watercooling will be an option for me but later. Also some people say that there is no such thing as "overkill".

So to the point, here`s my build:

MOMMYBOARD:
Asus X79 Sabertooth Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard

CPU:
Intel 4930K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail (BX80633I74930K)

CPU COOLING:
Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
+
EK Water Blocks EK-TIM Indigo Xtreme - Intel 2011

GPU:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N770OC-2GD)

CASE
Corsair Obsidian 900D Full Tower Case - Black

PSU
Corsair Professional Series AX1200 High Performance 1200W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply (CMPSU-1200AXUK)

MEMORY:
Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX24C11T3K2/16X)

INTERNAL HDD:

1ST: Corsair Force GT 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CSSD-F240GBGT-BK)

2ND: Western Digital VelociRaptor 1TB 10000RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1000DHTZ) HDD

SYSTEM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050)

CD DRIVE:
That`s a detail for now, I guess some blue ray rom.

Now my questions:

1. Will those parts work together properly?
2. Do I need to add something?
3. Did I choose the best cooling for my CPU?
4. Any comments, suggestions - please do.

There`s on more thing:
I won`t be able to buy that kind of a computer at once so I will be buying each part or two every month depending on financial situation. I`m starting this week`s friday. Unfortuneately that is the only option for me.

Thanks a lot.

I wouldn't get a 770 tbh, it's very slightly faster than a 680 which in turn is very slightly faster than a 670. You can get a 670 for £150 less.

Welcome.

That is massively over the top for gaming.

I've got a sandybridge i5 (£170 new) and im pretty sure that'll last to 5 years old easy (and still game well).

For that money you can get a great rig and a new monitor too. :)

Yeah, like Doomed said, the CPU you're buying is pointless for the price, get a 4670k for £300 less. The difference in performance between the 4670k and 4930k is none existent.

If you'll be using it for single-monitor gaming with a bit of video editing, the 4930k is probably overkill. You can save quite a bit by getting a 4770k Haswell.

Post your budget; Doomed and Ethermaster will spec you something sexy :)

Thank you guys for responses, They`ve been very helpful!

Fulax:

My budget is pretty weird: 200 quid per part (except GPU and CPU)

Ethermaster:

My favorite colour is a mix of red and black so both colours separately as well.

snips86x:

That is what I needed. Thank you!
My copmuter will be used in 90% for gaming. Im not programmer neither graphs editor.

That second build which you have postet is exactly what I`m gonna go for!

Except Windows 8 of course because I`m buing desktop not a tablet (no offense :) ) I`ll go for 7 Home Premium.

Also whats is going on with those 2 SSD drives? Is that on purpose or just a mistake? What is the point of that?

I have made some research and towards my huge suprise it turns out that 4930K vs. 4770K both overclocked when it comes to FPS in games 4770K has 90% wins!! And it is like 10-20 FPS more...
Even when 4930K won, the difference was 2-5 FPS. So I won`t put twice quid on that...

By the way, that case... I have never seen it before but as akward as it is I loved it at first sight! That will be my first part which I`m ordering this thursday.

If u`ve got any other ideas please feel free.

Thanks again!!

One thing guys. If someone would be so nice and still watched that thread then what`s up with the vertical optical drives? ;D I have never seen that before and just noticed my case does have that kind of design ;p is that not a problem? any optical device will do alright?
