I'm looking to buy a PSU in anticipation of the new sandy bridge kit in the new year. I'm looking to run something similar to an i5 760 with 2x 4gb sticks and a 6950. All this will be teamed with a single BD-ROM/DVD-RW and 3 SATA drives (7200rpm).

The couple of online PSU calculators I have tried reccomend something around 500w. I've been eyeing up the Antec TruePower New Modular 650W.

Is this likely to run the predicted system efficiently and comfortably, and give me room for a couple of upgrades (CPU or GPU) down the line?

Thanks for any help!

Yes it will likely be fine. The entire system is not likely to draw more than 350-400W at load although you will be getting close to the 650W limit if you add another 6950 with a 215W power usage. This isnt a problem with quality supplies like Antec and Seasonic; in fact sometimes people have been running them in excess of specifications without any problems

Thanks for the replies!

I'm unlikely to add a second card, more likely to switch it with a better performing one in a year or two.

The Anandtech review showed 509 watts under Furmark, which would easily be within the capabilities of the Antec Truepower New TP-650, just as any single card would.
