Petition: Ban the use of Erythrosine (E127) in all food products and ingested medicines.
I want the UK Government to remove the exemptions that allow the synthetic dye Erythrosine (E127) to be used in tinned fruits and pharmaceutical coatings. We urge a total ban on this organoiodine compound in any product intended for human ingestion.

Action:Remove the exemptions allowing the synthetic dye Erythrosine (E127) in tinned fruits and pharmaceuticals. We urge a total ban on this organoiodine compound in all products intended for human ingestion.
Details:E127 is restricted in most UK foods but remains legal in tinned fruits and medical tablets/capsules. E127 is 58% iodine and can cause thyroid disruption; it has been linked to thyroid tumors in animal studies. It is illogical that a dye deemed too high-risk for a sausage is considered safe for vulnerable populations taking daily medication. Using dyes to mask the natural color degradation of processed food is a visual "scam" that serves no health purpose.
