creating a system boot disk

FIRSTLY THANKS FOR LOOKING... (sorry for the caps - was on my laptop at the time)

OK, SINCE INSTALLING MY NEW MOTHERBOARD (ASUS A8R32-MVP) WHEN I AM OVERCLOCKING AND TWEEKING MY SYSTEM EVENTUALLY MY WINDOWS INSTALLATION ON BOOT UP STATES "WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM - missing or ****** file!" AND FROM HERE THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET MY SYSTEM RUNNING IS BY RE-INSTALLING WINDOWS! SEEMS TO BE WHEN MY CPU FREQUENCY HITS 285 AND ABOVE!

I HAVE NOW DONE THIS 3 TIMES IN 2 DAYS! SURELY THERE IS AN EASY WAY TO RESTORE MY SYSTEM. I HAVE TRIED TO RESTORE TO A PREVIOUS RESTORE POINT, AND GET INTO SAFE MODE BUT NO LUCK. HAS ANYONE COME ACROSS THIS AND IF SO, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH IT. SURELY I CAN CREATE SOME SORT OF IMAGE TO GET WINDOWS BACK TO NORMAL???

I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN EITHER BE HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE RELATED. A LOT OF FOLK SAY ITS TO DO WITH USB DEVICES???

I NEVER ONCE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY PREVIOUS SYSTEMS...OR ANY SYSTEM I HAVE EVER BUILT.

ANYONE THAT CAN HELP IS A LEGEND! CHEERS

cheers for the replys - I dont think its an overclock thing - as even when my previous system was unstable it never came up with that message. However I will keep my overcloking to a minimum for a while. It still wont work at stable and I can even get into DOS. All i can do is boot from another partition or cd-rom.

ill try and find the root of the problem - just wondered if there was a way incase my system did do it again - i did not have to go through a full install.

sorry for all the caps - wont do it again - did not realise it was offensive or anything - just typing on the laptop is annoying!

thanks
