Please someone help, IPod not recognised

my pod got accidently unplugged when i was updating it, now the screen on the ipod only shows the conection picture and when i plug it in it says its not recognised.

Please can someone help me.

Its a 20gb normal music ipod (version 2 i think)

Im not bothered for the music on it as was planning to wipe it anyway.

had been trying via USB, have tried firewire and something is happening, i dont knwo what though.

well whatever it was firewire connection fixed it.

Ive had this little baby for 5 years with no probs didnt want them to start now with my mess up
