So i installed Windows 8 on my laptop, however i cannot seem to get the Wifi working correctly, ive been into device manager, says the adapter is working correctly, ive been into the network and sharing center and it shows the adapter is enabled but not connected to a network, however when i click to connect to a network an the side bar comes up it only shows LAN devices, wifi doesnt even show up! Any suggestions, ive also tried restarting the WLAN autoconfig and that didnt work either! If i cant fix it im gonna have to go back to windows 7, if thats possible?

Well yes and no, I try to update the drivers but they are up to date, windows says my WiFi card is working correctley and it even shows it in the adapter settings in the network and sharing center but not in the side panel where you need to connect to a WiFi network

Has your WiFi driver installed a utility app for managing your wireless?

I know in Windows 7 etc some manufactures bundled awful utilities to connect/disconnect. They tended to override the built-in Windows one.

I had this on a laptop once. I don't really use laptops and didn't realise that there was a "fn" button to turn some things on and off. I think it was fn + f8 to enable/disable wifi
