Edit: This now also applies to 23". :)

I'm looking to spend up to around £280 on a 24" LCD. I will be using it mainly for games but also for quite a bit of photography and artwork. Please recommend me a good monitor in this price range. :)

Thanks guys.

Are you sure 23" is too small? There are a few monitors I would recommend that are 23" which are excellent for gaming and general purpose. The Samsung XL2370 would be top of the list but the PX2370 and NEC EA231WMi is also worth considering. Considering the screen size and budget, as well as your usage, I would recommend that a 24" screen should be your absolute max. size given that the resolution of screens you will be considering is unlikely to exceed 1920x1080.

^ Yes, 23" would be fine. Checking those out now.

Which of the 23" that OcUK sell would you recommend?

How does this one rate?

Samsung Plum Series B2330H 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor

It's much more affordable than the XL2370.

I have to ship it to the Channel Islands so there's some restriction on which shops I can buy from as they have to be able to give me reasonable delivery charges as well as removing VAT.

The XL2370 and PX2370 are currently the only TN panels I would consider for photography/art work based on their excellent and surprisingly accurate colours and contrast. It is by far the best TN panel I have used (and I've used more than I can remember) as far as colours are concerned. I've used a number of Samsung TN panels and none have come close to the overall image quality of the XL2370.
