I have bought my domains, forwarded to my hosting provider and now I need some PHP / MySQL based blog software.

Can anyone suggest any good, stable and secure blog software please.

Wordpress.

I understood this was a full CMS system which is not so much of what I would have wanted as it seems a bit of overkill for a site of daily moaning.

Seems a shame to install so much and then have to disable it. More features and more chances of it going a bit 'funny'.

I had a look at Serendipity but was concerned that most of the skins were dated 2006 indicating that there is maybe a less than avid following.

I'll have a look at wordpress and thanks for the suggestions.
Anyone able to suggest anything a bit 'lighter', pref with easy skinning.

can be a simple blog (yet professional) with the right theme, addons etc.
can be a full cms web with the right addons etc.
up to you.
don't use anything else other than wordpress!
It's superb!!
 
Wordpress skinning is about as easy as it gets (although not really that flexible)
It's a blog first and a CMS about... uh... 5th.. go for it mon!
