Greetings and salutations OCUK Hardware Wizards

I trust you are all well . I was wondering if I could ask for some assistance.
My below rig, after 5 years and 11 months is showing its age and can no longer handle Ultra on some games and crashes from time to time.

*Krypton Intel Core i7 960 3.20GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle
*Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
*Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK)
*Powercolour R9 390

I now believe I got what I wanted from my investment and would like to know if anyone could advise on a CPU MB and RAM to replace the old feller.
I am willing to pay between £500-£600 for a easily overclock able CPU, MB and RAM, I am not a fan boy so Intel or AMD is fine.
I know it’s wishful thinking but my last machine almost lasted 6 years and I would love to push this new build as far if possible.

I will be going for an all in one prebuilt CPU water cooler (Corsair makes some) and advice on that would be great too.

It will be used for gaming and I will be investing in a GTX 1080 or 1070 so will need to keep up with that.

Hopefully this will be fun for someone to share their knowledge and advice.

Thank you all in advance

What case do you have? as the Corsair AIO would need to fit, so no good suggesting the bigger 280mm H110 for example if it wont go in.

Good morning and thank you both for your suggestions.

I did some reading this morning and from some reviews and the Gigabyte Z170-Gaming K3 Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard does not work well for overclocking, Could anyone comment?

I have done some research and chatted to a helpful OCUK employee I am thinking of the below:

intel-core-i7-6700k-4.0ghz-skylake-socket-lga1151-processor-retail-cp-581-in

asus-z170-pro-gaming-intel-z170-socket-1151-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-648-as

corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-pc4-24000c15-3000mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-cmk16gx4m2b30-my-445-cs

corsair-hydro-series-h100i-v2-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler-cw-9060025-ww-hs-038-cs

Does anyone have come advice or comments before i pull the trigger?

Thank you very much

The Gaming 7 is a great board packed with features , Stulid did a review on it.

The MSI Z170A-SLI Plus is a cracking budget board.

Thank you very much for your reply, to be honest all I need the MB to do is OC well :)
I am a simple man so funky features that do not assist with the OC are wasted on me :)

I have a 2 SSD, raid 0 HDD setup, KB and mouse with a R9 390 :D

I am leaning towards you recommendation but I am having a hard time figuring out how easy the overclocking would be.

I will do some more reading yet advise as always is very welcome.

But at the moment the "MSI Z170A-SLI" is a front runner reg bang for buck :D

There are many guides for overclocking and remenber its a hit and miss process so bare with it. Do you have a decent cpu cooler and what case do you have ?

I understand most of us have the same dilemas when choosing, i am very value orianted myself and would lean towards the MSI.

Gigabyte board is a fantastic board with tons of features and more, like dual lan, dual bios, 4 year warranty but cost £70 more than the MSI

The MSI has all you need and 3 year warranty, for £70 diffrence could almost get another motherboard.

If you can afford it and want it then go for it, you wont be dissapointed with either.

You sir are magic an I have made a decision:

1 x Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 - Skylake Core i7 6700K CPU & Motherboard Bundle **£20 Saving**= £446.98

This makes the difference around £50.

I know it has been difficult but go there in the end, time to get the orders going.

Thank you again to everyone!!!

Hello Good people of OCUK

I trust we are all well and rocking on :)

I was wondering if I could get some advice on a GFX upgrade. The gist:
single monitor 1080p, I will not mind getting a better card for future proofing but am I correct in thinking 1080 is overkill?

Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 - Skylake Core i7 6700K CPU

Any advice is most welcome
